Every new project starts with the same question: what should we build it with? The honest answer is rarely the newest framework. It is the one that best fits your team, your timeline and your product.
Begin with the problem
A content site, a real-time dashboard and a mobile marketplace have very different needs. Write down the three hardest requirements first: performance, offline support, integrations, compliance. The stack should make those easy.
Weigh the team, not the hype
A technology your team already knows well will almost always ship faster and break less than a trendier option. Hiring market, documentation quality and long term maintenance matter more than benchmark charts.
- Team fit: experience, learning curve, hiring pool.
- Ecosystem: libraries, tooling, community support.
- Operations: hosting cost, observability, security updates.
Keep the cost of change low
You will get some decisions wrong. Clear boundaries between the interface, business logic and data layer keep those mistakes small. Prefer standard protocols and avoid tight coupling to a single vendor where it is not worth it.
Decide, document, move on
Write a short decision record explaining what you chose and why. It saves hours of repeated debate later and makes onboarding far easier.
